How to Hire -  Membership Options:

Helper Member

Get a better deal by helping with ONE Toy Library open day &/or ONE Fundraiser, every 6 months.

  • 6 months: $35

  • 12 months: $60

  • Create 'Holds' for popular toys (x2 toys max / per session)

  • Hire up to x4 standard library toys per session (hire duration = 2 weeks)

  • Free Online Renewals (x1 month loan limit). *not available for Reserved/on Hold or Party/Special items

  • $2 Late Fees

  • Free Special Bookings (e.g. party reservations)

  • Party Range & Special Hires charged at 50% off advertised prices

  • $15 Special Appointment Fees

We can't run our little library without ongoing support from Waiheke's amazing community. If kids bring you joy, &/or you're interested in meeting like minded people (& saving a bit of coin) please consider this option - we will keep it fun we promise! 

Regular Member

No helping required

  • 6 months: $90

  • 12 months: $120

If you don't mind paying a bit upfront for long term savings, if you see yourself using us pretty regularly, & if you want to support the cause without having to volunteer - then this option is for you.

Non-Member/Visitor

Pay as you go

  • $20 per visit / open session

What you get:​

  • Hire x3 standard library toys per session (hire duration = 2 weeks)

  • $5 Late Fees

  • $10 Special Bookings Admin Fee (e.g. party reservations)

  • $10 Holds & Renewal Fees (available through email request only)

  • Party Range & Special Hires charged at advertised prices

  • $15 Out of Hours Appointment Fee

  • Access our Party Range & Special Hires at advertised prices

  • $10 'Reservations' Fee (for every 2 items/toys/packs requested)

  • $15 Special Appointment Fees

This is for you if you have a one off event/request; you're a grandparent/carer/Waiheke visitor or just don't foresee using the library all that often or would like to trial before committing to a membership.

Committee Member

Active volunteers get use of everything for FREE!

Have a special talent or some extra time on your hands? Want to make a difference in our community? We are always looking for fresh energy, new ideas & the following support:

  • Fundraising

HOW TO HIRE: Text

Some Important Additional Info..

  • RESERVATIONS: Reserving the Bouncy Castle, a Party Pack, or Special Item? You can send an email directly to info.toylibrary@gmail.com with the details of your request (see your membership description for applicable fees for this service), & we will personally book what you need, for when you need it (availability dependent). Please remember that we are Volunteers for the most part, so you may not always get a reply the same day - but rest assured our emails are monitored, & we will get back to you when we can. We also charge a $10 booking fee for most reservations given this is an additional service to the regular library.

  • SPECIAL APPOINTMENTS: we charge a $15 fee if you need to collect/return hires out of our regular fortnightly hours (we think it is important to start charging this as compensation to our volunteers for their extra time/petrol to meet you at the container). We will waive this fee at the Committee's discretion for larger hires such as the Bouncy Castle, or in special circumstances with advanced notice.

  • HOLDS: Use this option for any toys not in the library when you are booking a click and collect, or that always seems to be on loan. Once it is returned, we will set it aside and let you know it is available to collect.

  • RENEWALS: If you can't make it to the next open day, please renew your toys a few days before they are due! You will save yourself a late penalty - so we encourage members to do jump online & do this - but please note that anything with a Hold, is Reserved or part of our Party Range, & Special Hires are not renewable

  • MISSING PIECES: this is a common fear for most of us parents, we get it - kids are not always going to take the same care & due diligence you would practice! We don't want you to stress if you lose a piece - but it does help us if you let us know ASAP if something is being returned with a toy, is damaged or lost for good. Just remember it is a volunteers time taken searching for it/updating the label so the next user is aware a piece is missing - and another kid that might be sad a set isn't complete. So just help us out with awesome communication - and if you can't find the piece within a month we might charge an appropriate piece replacement fee at the Committee's discretion.

  • MISSING TOYS: If you have not returned a toy within two months of its due date, you will be charged a replacement fee for that toy. Regardless if you are a Helper Member, Committee Member, Non-Member or Regular Member. If you can't make our open days, just let us know - we aren't scary!​

  • CORPORATE FEES: We charge a double rate for complex, public or corporate event bookings. 

  • COMMUNITY SUPPORT: We structure our pricing so our library is accessible to the entire community, please get in contact with us to discuss a community services rate or reach out and ask how we can help you if you are need.

SIGN ME UP! This link takes you to our online membership form - we need your contact details even if you wish to stay a non-member/visitor.

Once you have filled out the form you should receive an automatic welcome email from us (check your spam) with instructions on how to log onto your new Toy Library profile (including your username and password) as well as some other handy tips on using our online system.


Please promptly deposit your appropriate membership/visitor fee (account details above), once cleared we can verify your profile & you can start using our online system for click & collect etc. If you signed up as a Non-Member for a special occasion that is a little bit down the track, your account will automatically sign you up for the next two weeks - don't worry, our team will manually change your visitor pass to your dates.

AND LASTLY....all library users must take the time to read our TERMS & CONDITIONS. By ticking the box 'I accept Terms & Conditions', you are agreeing to abide by all of the terms and conditions set out by the Waiheke Toy Library.
